Wednesday Matinee

Old friends and new friends enjoy a monthly fellowship and Bible study called “Wednesday Matinee” that includes lunch and a short lesson based on the old Andy Griffith TV series; watch an episode and discuss the ethical and Biblical implications of what happened that week in Mayberry.Wednesday Matinee begins at noon in the fellowship hall on the second Wednesday of each month.

Call 843-2343 the Monday before, to reserve a place.  Members of churches in West Point and surrounding counties are invited to share in the fellowship and lively discussion.  Donations are accepted to cover the cost of lunch, with any extra monies going to support St. David’s ministries in Aylett and the Good Neighbor Center in West Point.

The Youth Group at Brett-Reed Memorial Presbyterian Church collected hundreds of new and gently worn shoes during their Soles4Souls shoe drive.  New shoes were sent to people whose lives had been devastated by earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, fire, and other catastrophic events.  Gently worn shoes were sent to micro-businesses in impoverished communities in over 127 countries for cleaning and repair before they were resold at nominal cost to local residents.

Hygiene Kits

Members of the Youth Fellowship at Brett-Reed recently prepared over 50 Hygiene Kits that were distributed by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Disaster Relief Assistance to countries such as Haiti and Japan.
